Overview
Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist
Fresh Direct is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator for our manufacturing, warehouse, transportation, and express sites located in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Bronx. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in EH&S and DOT safety and will report to the Director, EH&S. The role is instrumental in promoting a “culture of safety” throughout all locations and assisting in the development and implementation of the Company’s comprehensive EH&S Program.
Responsibilities- Performs daily EH&S site inspections in all locations to ensure state, local, and federal compliance with operating procedures.
- Routinely audits safety systems and departments to ensure OSHA and DOT compliance.
- Recommends operational process modifications to mitigate risk by addressing deficiencies.
- Conducts incident investigations, including interviews, data gathering, and recommending corrective actions based on policies and procedures.
- Completes thorough incident reports and ensures incidents are logged and reported to necessary personnel and channels.
- Reviews departmental investigation reports to ensure corrective actions have been executed to prevent recurrence and unsafe acts or conditions.
- Assists and supports all departments with safety training, including behavioral-based workplace and job function safety training programs.
- Maintains adequate supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all locations.
- Prepares safety presentations, including trends and performance indicators, and presents data to relevant teams.
- Delivers key safety concepts to support the Mission Zero roadmap to zero lost-time injuries and world-class performance.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Three (3) years’ hands-on experience driving safety and compliance in a busy, complex, multi-faceted warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
- Travel within the NYC region is required.
Desired
- Knowledge of OSHA/DOT/EPA/NYC/FDNY regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures
- Bilingual:
Spanish/English - OSHA-30 General Industry Certification
- S-95 FDNY Certificate of Fitness - Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems
- F-01 FDNY Certificate of Fitness - Fire Guard for Impairment
- Experience with operating forklifts and/or powered industrial trucks
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, verbal, and written communication skills at all levels in a multi-tiered, multi-cultured workplace.
- Ability to train others in classroom or onsite settings.
- Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects concurrently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong drive to excel.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
