Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.
As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a Psychiatry Technician. The Psychiatry Technician plays a vital role in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, delivering direct patient care and clinical support under the guidance of registered nurses. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and structured environment, engaging patients in therapeutic activities, and assisting children and adolescents with their daily needs throughout hospitalization.
Additionally, the Psychiatric Technician performs essential clinical tasks, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing, in alignment with a trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive model of care.
Education, Training and Experience
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with two years of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral health care within a high-volume, intensive care setting. Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Graduate of a State Certified PCT/PCA program
- Completion of and certified to perform vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs and blood glucose monitoring
- Successful completion of an appropriate training program in the application and use of restraints and seclusion must be completed
