Join the NYU Langone Health team as a Supervisor, Medical Assistant at our Levit Medical practice in Brooklyn. This role oversees daily clinic operations and provides ongoing supervision of medical assistant and patient care assistant staff.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will support physicians and nurses in delivering patient care, collaborate with clinical staff to implement policies that improve operations, and supervise medical assistant personnel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee Medical Assistant staff and associated patient care activities at the Faculty Group Practice site.
  • Resolve employee issues, authorize attendance, manage schedules, sick time changes, and oversee direct reports’ payroll and timekeeping.
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule medical assistants’ activities, participate in interdisciplinary planning for patient care with physicians, and act as a Medical Assistant as needed, providing back‑up coverage.
  • Serve as liaison between clinical staff and physicians to ensure effective service for patients and establish working relationships with group physicians.
  • Address physician concerns related to patients and maintain communication with administration for patient updates.
  • Ensure suites are properly staffed to avoid provider delays, keep staff cooperative, and set the tone as a representative of management.
  • Establish clinical office policies, communicate responsibilities, train MA/PCA roles, and ensure cross‑training and coverage for all administrative activities.
  • Enforce compliance with NYULH and FGP policies, including HIPAA, Compliance, Human Resources, and other standards.
  • Recognize routine problems, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions; oversee QI and QA activities related to Point‑of‑Care Testing.
  • Work with Practice and Clinical Leadership to develop staffing standards, training, performance and productivity metrics.
  • Assist in implementation and oversight of key FGP operational initiatives such as MIPS and MyChart patient utilization.
  • Optimize patient flow and access, support clinical quality initiatives, and maintain timely closure of clinical in‑baskets.
  • Complete patient intake tasks, validate medical records, escort patients and specimens, and maintain infection control standards.
  • Collect specimens, perform Point‑of‑Care testing (EKG, Glucose, Pregnancy Test, Urinalysis), and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist physicians with procedure setup as needed, manage supplies, sterilize equipment, and facilitate clinical quality documentation.
  • Review downtime procedures, complete annual competencies (Fire Safety, Hazardous Waste, Med Sled, HIPAA), and perform other duties as assigned.
Patient Experience and Access
  • Serve as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador, upholding mission, vision, values, and excellence in patient experience.
  • Drive consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of the FGP Service Strategy CARES.
  • Greet patients warmly, communicate steps of care, and resolve inquiries via phone or electronic messaging.
  • Anticipate patient needs, participate in service recovery using the LEARN model, and escalations to leadership when necessary.
  • Share ideas to improve patient experience and access (e.g., optimize schedules, reduce delays).
  • Collaborate with Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office to promote positive experience and support staff engagement.
  • Ensure staff are fully versed in Access Agreement gold‑standard principles.
Staff Engagement
  • Mentor MA/PCA staff and provide opportunities for professional development.
  • Assist with competency assessments, performance evaluations, and training needs for employee career success.
  • Conduct routine staff meetings and huddles to promote communication and feedback.
  • Participate in FGP corporate meetings/Web Ex to stay aligned with network updates.
  • Promote employee engagement activities and gather feedback internally.
Minimum Qualifications
