Compensation: $22.00/hr - $29.00/hr
Bleuler Psychotherapy Center is seeking a passionate and community-connected Community Wellness Specialist to join our COMHPS team. This is not a desk job - you’ll be actively engaging with individuals and families across Queens to promote mental wellness, facilitate access to care, and build strong, supportive connections.
What You’ll Do- Conduct outreach using in-person, digital, and phone strategies targeting youth, young adults, and their support networks.
- Represent Bleuler at community events, schools, houses of worship, and public forums.
- Facilitate wellness activities, psycho educational groups, and recreational events.
- Provide brief counseling, screenings, referrals, and linkages for those in need.
- Deliver public education and promote mental health resources across Queens neighborhoods.
- Offer treatment-adjacent support including crisis de-escalation, stress management, academic/vocational navigation, and more.
- Build trusted relationships with community-based organizations, local agencies, and families.
- Complete accurate documentation and participate in required OMH and BPC trainings and meetings.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two years of experience or coursework in social work, mental health, human services, or public health.
- Strong communication, cultural humility, and community knowledge of NYC neighborhoods.
- Reliable, compassionate, adaptable, and mission-driven.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with data tracking.
- Must pass NYS Justice Center background clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field.
- Experience in trauma-informed care and community mental health.
