The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) mission is to promote a healthy community by providing New Yorkers with the resources needed to make informed and empowered health decisions, identify and treat tuberculosis, and provide immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. The BPHC oversees the medical services and clinical operations of eight Sexual Health Clinics, nine COVID Express Testing Clinics, three COVID Vaccine Operation Clinics, and four Tuberculosis Chest Clinics.

One Immunization Clinic will join BPHC in the near future. The Bureau is seeking to hire a Patient Portal Coordinator to work in the Clinical Informatics Unit.

Duties
  • Creating reports on patient portal application utilization; identifying and evaluating trends in patient usage, message response time, and application feedback
  • Participating in research and analysis of clinical cycle time and workflow optimization for the public health clinics
  • Troubleshooting and mitigating BPHC applications and end user problems (patients and clinic staff) in a timely manner
  • Collaborating with IT team to raise, track, and communicate resolutions for application issues
  • Using SQL Server to investigate the database and write corrections to patient chart data
  • Performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression testing of application deployments
  • Overseeing account management and vendor communication for external applications
  • Training staff in the use of new applications features and providing ongoing assistance in the use of clinical systems
  • Assisting in the design and dissemination of user materials for public-facing applications for distribution to patients
  • Maintaining internal documentation for workflows, processes, and training materials as necessary
  • Other tasks as needed
  • Acting as backup to unit staff as needed
Preferred Skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries; experience with data analysis software like SQL, SAS, or R
  • Experience interacting with patients while complying with HIPAA
  • Experience in customer service
  • Background in infectious disease, public health, clinical settings, EMR data, or other related subject matter
  • Experience in project management
  • Willingness to travel to clinic sites throughout the city on occasion
  • An understanding of health equity issues within the context of infectious disease public health
  • Ability to work with a variety of staff and end users with varying level of technical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments
