• Completing psychosocial assessments and substance-related screenings.
• Developing individualized treatment plans that include goals and objectives.
• Participating in case review to present clinical observations and suggest treatment programs.
• Conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Monitoring and reporting on individuals' progress and maintaining records.
• Coordinating treatment planning with other clinical disciplines for individuals with more complicated conditions.
• Supervising Addictions Counselor Assistants and Addiction Counselors 1.

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency죽첩 Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they are registered as a CASAC‑Advanced Counselor or CASAC Master Counselor in New York State and have one year of post‑registration addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program.

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Background checks will be required. This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
