Outpatient Counselor

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, provides direct counseling services to patients.

• Provides individual counseling and treatment/recovery plan preparation, monitoring and review.
• Provide therapeutic interactions to foster patient’s social, cognitive, and behavioral skill development.
• Provide psychosocial interventions to teach skills for coping with urges, craving, impulsive behavior and cognitive distortions in thinking, motivational interviewing techniques.
• Provide individual, group and family counseling, where appropriate.
• Plan and facilitate interactions with patients within the program to build social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and thorough case records.
• Maintain relationships with patient referral agencies.
• Complete utilization reviews in a timely manner to ensure continuity of care.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bachelors Degree a plus

• Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing

• Minimum two years in a behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment program
• Bilingual preferred

• This job operates in an indoor office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
