Overview
Position Summary: The Office of School Heath (OSH) is a joint program of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). OSH has been the provider of public health services in the schools for 100 years. OSH provides health services and preventative services to NYCPS students. Services to students include case management of chronic health problems, preventive health screening, urgent care, medication administration, preventive counseling, health education, referral for care, and ensuring ongoing effective treatment.
OSH also assists the NYCPS in managing its programs for students with educational and physical disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504).
The Physician for the Office of School Health will observe students in their assigned school for the purpose of writing an order/referral for school-based Occupational Therapy (OT)/Physical Therapy (PT) services when it is determined that the services are appropriate. This observation will take place in a manner that complies with all reimbursement requirements under Medicaid for properly claiming the provision of school-based OT/PT services.

Key Relationships: Works closely with OT/PT Supervising Physician, OT/PT Medicaid Program Manager, OT/PT Scheduling Team, OT/PT staff in schools, School Administration, OSH Director of Operations, OSH IT staff, NYCPS Medicaid staff, and OSH staff.
