Staff Nurse – RN – Behavioral Health Inpatient – Nichols Cottage - Day/Evenings

In this role you will be working in a general acute child/adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit with various types of psychiatric, behavioral and adjustment problems that affect their family, community and school life. Our purpose is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for adolescents to work on psychiatric, behavioral and adjustment issues. Our duty is to help patients effectively communicate their issues and concerns in a socially acceptable and productive way.

Services include structured therapeutic milieu, medication management, family and group therapy, on unit classroom and community-based resource support.

This is a full-time (40hrs) day/evening rotating shift (3/12 hrs and an additional 8hrs (biweekly), including rotating weekend (Saturday & Sunday) coverage at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Behavioral Health.

• At least one year of RN experience and/or capstone or a senior clinical rotation with a preceptor
• Nursing Certification/s

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Current New York State RN license
• BCLS certification
• Knowledge of nursing process: social, behavioral, biological and physical science
• Knowledge of current health care environment
• Knowledge of customer service principles
• Knowledge of effective interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of use of computer applications
• Ability to analyze patient care data to deliver and evaluate care
• New Grads must complete Nurse Residency Program
