Job Description :
Pay Range: $22.24hr - $24hr
- The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
- This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent patient interaction skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance standards.
- The candidate should be proficient in performing venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques while ensuring accurate data entry and documentation.
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
- Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Verify and understand physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order requirements.
- Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity and temperature requirements.
- Store samples in appropriate containers and follow specific transport procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer phone calls and provide laboratory results as required.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).
- Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1.5 years of experience in Phlebotomy preferred.
- Experience working with various patient types and performing hard sticks.
- Experience handling urine, thyroid testing, and specimen processing.
- Strong attention to detail and data entry skills.
- Phlebotomy (venipuncture and specimen handling).
- Computer literacy and data entry accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle difficult blood draws ( hard sticks ) efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
