Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Surgical Technologist 2pm - 10pm - LOH. In this role, the successful candidate assists Surgical Team in smooth and efficient operation of the surgical suite, ensuring a high level of quality patient care is maintained. Assists professional staff before, during and after all surgical procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs OR support responsibilities relating to surgical procedures under the supervision of an RN.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to oversee its maintenance by all members of the surgical team.
  • Demonstrates ability to assist surgeons with procedures done in the Operating Room, based on level of competency.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specific Operating Room and general hospital policies and procedures and legal aspects which affect the technician's role.
  • Assists the surgeon and/or surgical team at the sterile field by preparing and having available sterile instruments and equipment for the specific surgical procedure; reviews surgeon's preference card in advance for proper case setup.
  • Assists surgeon and/or surgical team in proper positioning of the patient for surgery.
  • Maintains patient safety by applying principles of body alignment during positioning, adapts to varying situations.
  • Demonstrates an ability to perform accurately and precisely in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Helps ensure a quiet, safe and efficient environment in the Operating Room.
  • Performs activities related to indirect patient care.
  • Maintains efficiency in the Operating Room on high activity days; cleans rooms and equipment quickly to ensure a smooth flow and adherence to the Operating Room schedule.
  • Collaborates with members of the Operating Room team to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Responds well to emergencies, changes in assignments, fluctuations in the surgical schedule, and demonstrates flexibility in planning.
  • Assists in keeping the Operating Room and work areas clean and organized; restocks supplies and equipment in assigned rooms.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. 1–3 years of operating room experience preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA. Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of the surgical technologist program. Must have a working knowledge of the principles of body alignment and receive BLS training.

Ability to communicate, read and write English required.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree; bilingual preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,000.00 – $96,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
