Under the direction of chief technologist, performs Cat Scan or MRI Procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnose. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Assigns work to other staff technologists.

• Patient and room preparation: this task includes
  - * Entering patient data into RIS and other appropriate computer systems as necessary.
  * Placing the patient on the scan table in the correct position for the scan to be performed.
  * Obtain appropriate scout image for procedure.
  * Error free data entry in computer systems. Room turnaround time of 5 minutes after completion of previous case (this also depends on other support services i.e. house keeping). Ability to work in parallel so that, nursing, medical, and technological staff are efficient.
• Direct involvement during procedure:
  This task involves
  * The assistance at the side of the radiologist during biopsy procedures as needed.
  * Constant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room, monitoring progression of biopsy procedure
  * Involved with operating injector when necessary.
  * Error free sterile technique.
  * Constant awareness of progression of procedure.
• Obtain cross sectional images:
  This task includes the proper setting of protocols and sequences to obtain high quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist.
  * Retake rate of less than 3 percent due to improper protocol and sequence settings or other reasons which are under the control of the technologist.
• Maintain adherence to imaging workflow in IDXRad, and G.E. Centricity (PACS). This includes tracking exams in IDXRad throughout all steps in the process. Also, verifying images in PACS to ensure the patient, exam type labeling and orientation are correct.
  * This standard is of utmost importance and must be followed diligently by the technologist, performing the exam.(error f r e e )
• Photographing and processing of images: this task includes photographing and labeling scan image, processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation.
  * High quality error free labeling of photographic images and displaying those images in proper order.
• Maintain all necessary records of image slices, injections, etc'
  * Error free documentation of necessary records
• Observe all rules and regulations and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff.
  * Error free observance of radiation safety procedures
• Train other associates and in CAT Scan or MRI Procedures.
  * Knowledgeable information while training other associates and students.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
  * Clean and orderly work area.
• Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
  * High quality cooperative performance.
• Perform other related assigned tasks.

• Satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in CT or MR and meets the requirements for certification in either CT or MR
• Cat Scan Systems and, or MRI Systems
• PACS
• RIS
• Registered Radiologic Technologist - Injection Required
• ARRT Required
