Overview
Tiegerman School at Woodside (TWS) is seeking a Behavior Specialist to join our educational team! TWS is a preschool through high school, and it is a 12-month program.
Location:
70-24 47th Avenue, Woodside, NY, 11377.
- The Behavior Specialist is responsible for the development and oversight of the behavior intervention plans (BIP).
- Leads the design and interpretation of the Functional Behavioral Assessment.
- Participates in and coordinates, as needed, meetings involving individuals on the assigned caseload.
- Responsible for maintaining all behavioral data related to individuals who are recommended for BIP and Behavior Support Plans.
- Consults with the staff and administration on individual student behavior issues, positive behavior supports and interventions, data collection, behavior antecedent and environmental factors.
- Implements and facilitates school-wide positive behavior support strategies.
- Teach, facilitate, and support staff on the implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions.
- Maintains regular communication and coordination of services with all service providers.
- Writes reports summarizing results of Functional Behavior Assessment and BIP progress reports.
- Completes all paperwork on time, ensuring that functional behavioral assessments and all other required documentation meet the requirements of standards set by NYSED.
- Conducts workshops, training, and in-service presentations in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing staff skills.
- Assists teachers in developing class-wide behavior management systems of reinforcement.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and protected information according to HIPAA standards.
- Conducts self professionally and courteously at all times.
- Provide crisis behavior interventions by guiding staff in the de-escalation of unsafe and disruptive behaviors.
- Demonstrates commitment to departmental and organizational goals.
- Assumption of other duties as assigned.
- Must have BCBA and/or LBA certification.
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 annually. Salary is determined by years of experience, the highest level of completed education, and relevant credentials. Eligible positions may receive merit-based salary enhancements one or two times per school year. These are awarded as one-time distributions.
