Westwood Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community is hiring a per diem Dietary Assistant to work a varied schedule.

The pay range for this opportunity is $16.00 - $16.30.

• Assure that food preparation/sanitation practices and policies are followed in a safe environment.
• Ensure residents are prepared and served the diet prescribed by their physicians according to the menu of the day.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Dietary Services.
• Communicate with residents and staff in English.
• Read and write in English.
• Lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
• Visually observe residents, hear emergency systems and verbal needs expressed by residents.
• Turn, stoop, bend, and stretch to assist residents.
• Stand for prolonged periods.
• Use equipment competently.
• Respond to emergencies, e.g., resident choking, evacuation of residents and visitors in the event of fire.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years experience in the food service industry preferred.
• Must have the required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment.
• Must be aware of and apply the standards of sanitary food preparation.
• Must have the required references and criminal record check.

Well-lighted, air-conditioned/heated environment; may be exposed to residents with communicable diseases or confused residents who become combative. May be required to work outdoors on occasion at resident cookouts. Wears the appropriate protective equipment when working with chemicals or cleaning up broken glass. Will be competent in the use of food preparation equipment, e.g., slicer, grinder, mixer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, coffee maker, etc.
