Job Summary

Midwood Ambulance is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Medicaid regulations, insurance verification, and ambulance billing procedures. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process, with a strong focus on New York State Medicaid claims. Candidate must be able to work 5 days in office.

Responsibilities
  • Process patient billing and insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
  • Review Patient Care Reports, assign ICD-10 and CPT codes accurately.
  • Submit claims in compliance with industry protocols.
  • Review medical records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
  • Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 for diagnosis coding and DRG for procedure coding.
  • Handle medical collections, including following up on unpaid claims and patient balances.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation is in place for billing purposes.
  • Assist in the management of medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Must have 2-3 years of medical Billing experience.
  • Must have experience with NYS Medicaid Billing guidelines.
Skills
  • Proficiency in medical office procedures and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance claim submissions.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding, DRG systems, and other relevant coding methodologies.
  • Excellent understanding of medical terminology and its application in billing.
  • Ability to work with various billing systems and software efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and record management.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Job Type: Full‑time

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
