OB Technician

• Provide basic nursing care to patients appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Provide general aspects of care that meet psychosocial and/or physical needs.
• Assists in admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
• Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy and EKG
• Function as a scrub person during procedures, including Cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, D&Cs, and cervical repairs. This involves maintaining a strict sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon, and performing accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the nursing staff.
• Prepare and maintain the labor and delivery rooms and operating rooms, ensuring they are clean, properly stocked with supplies (e.g., instruments, linens, personal care items), and that all equipment is functional and ready for use.
• Assist the nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This may include monitoring and recording vital signs, assisting with patient personal hygiene, transporting patients, and providing emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
• Perform various administrative tasks, such as collecting patient data, completing and processing birth certificate information and paternity declaration forms, answering phone calls, and updating patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Exercise calm and effective teamwork during emergency or crisis situations, assisting the medical team promptly and efficiently.

Requirements/Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Required
• Minimum of 1 year job-related experience.
• Completion of Phlebotomy and EKG Training Program.
• Completion of Nurse Technician Program
• Good communication skills (written, verbal and telephone)
• BLS required
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist

• NBSTSA Certification
• BLS certification (American Heart)

High School Diploma/Equivalency or better.
