Ophthalmic Technician; FGP - Manhattan

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician (FGP) - Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate tests and measures eye function to assist an Ophthalmologist in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and disease. The candidate will perform visual acuity testing, visual field testing, slit lamp examinations, corneal measurements, intraocular pressure assessments, axial length measurements, and other diagnostic tests as requested by the physician.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Manage all patient correspondence including but not limited to: disability forms, patient education materials, and surgical consent forms.
• Conduct slit lamp examinations.
• Complete medical history, lensometry, autorefract testing, PR testing, and glare testing.
• Perform all aspects of visual acuity testing and visual field testing.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO)-approved institutional course preferred or working toward obtaining certification.

Preferable 5+ years experience in a Retina Practice. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
