Certified (HHA/PCA) - Caregiver for Personal Care

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time and Live-In Positions Available

Travel and work at client locations

Wage: $20.00-$20.59/hour + $100.00 referral bonus for all HHAs/Caregivers who are hired/clients who are brought on

Senior Helpers of Northern Queens is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver to provide support in our clients’ homes to help maintain their independence. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and have a pleasant and friendly personality. We provide a full range of superior home care services to culturally diverse clients—Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Yiddish and English speaking clients.

All Caregivers will be required to submit or undergo a full annual physical with MMR (MEASLES/MUMPS/RUBELLA) and PPD/TB TEST (less than a year old) as required by the state.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to
  • Assist with personal care activities including:
  • Baths (sponge, tub, shower and bed bath)
  • Oral hygiene
  • Basic skin care and foot care
  • Grooming of hair (shampoo and combing), shaving, and ordinary care of nails
  • Toileting
  • Catheter and ostomy care (Empty Only)
  • Transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair and shower, etc.)
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Change diaper/brief
  • Ambulation
  • Medication assistance/reminder
  • Assist with home exercise plan
  • Assist with household tasks necessary to the client’s health care needs, including:
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals
  • Assisting in feeding client, as appropriate
  • Light housekeeping of client’s environment, including linens and making bed
  • Laundering client’s clothing and bedding
  • Assisting clients with shopping
  • Use equipment and supplies safely.
  • Engage with client in conversation, hobbies, activities, board games and other types of proper activities for the client.
  • Monitor, observe, and encourage range of motion exercises and other procedures as instructed by any professional staff.
  • Maintain a written log with receipts of all client money used to purchase goods or materials for the client’s care.
  • Report any changes in client’s condition to the Supervisor.
  • Document care provided consistent with agency requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
