Anesthesia Technician

Under general supervision and following established procedures, the Anesthesia Technician assures the quality of service and monitoring for patients undergoing anesthesia in all anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital. Maintains, services, sets up, tests, and troubleshoots equipment and provides technical assistance to the Anesthesia staff in the care of patients.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Assists the anesthesia staff in the set up and initialization of hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
- Assists anesthesia staff in care of patients before, during, and immediately after anesthesia which involves transfer of patients from stretchers to operating table, attachment of vital signs monitoring equipment, positioning and holding patients for procedures, intubation assistance, and transfer from operating room to PACU.
- Conducts performance tests, performs calibration and first level repairs (e.g., battery changes, cable swapping, monitor checks) of anesthesia equipment.
- Prepares blood pressure transducers, calibrates them, and sets up IV solutions and infusions.
- Sets up equipment for use in the work area—including connecting input and output hoses, bronchoscopes, and assembling breathing circuits—and delivers required anesthesia equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoots routine problems with equipment in the OR during use, repairing or replacing as necessary.
- Acts as a liaison to clinical support departments to ensure that all anesthesia clinical needs are met efficiently and effectively.
- Assists supervisor in orientation and on‑job training of employees.
- Assumes other related duties as needed.
Location: NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center
Shift: 1 pm–9 pm, Sunday–Thursday
- ASATT certification
- Previous experience as an anesthesia technician
- Previous surgical or procedural experience
- Mechanical training or experience with equipment, including knowledge of the operation of sterilizers and sterility techniques
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
- 1 year of operating room experience or patient care area

$40.20–$48.21 per hour
