Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sleep Technologist (FGP) – Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate will perform all aspects of polysomnography for both clinical and research patients under general supervision of the Director. Responsibilities include managing protocol documentation, interfacing with the GCRC and various researchers, preparing quarterly reports on protocol activity, monitoring and ordering lab supplies, and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities- Gather and analyze patient information: review history, physical information, medications, procedure requests, and study protocols. Complete and verify documentation and orient patients to the sleep center.
- Testing preparation procedures: calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted standards, perform physiological calibrations, and conduct PAP mask fitting.
- Polysomnographic procedures: follow procedural protocols such as MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration. Monitor data acquisition to ensure signals are artifact‑free and make adjustments as needed.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages, clinical events, and significant changes, to facilitate scoring and interpretation. Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs.
- Polysomnographic record scoring: assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events using center‑specific protocols, and generate accurate reports by tabulating data.
- Service management and professional issues: comply with safety and infection control regulations, maintain equipment care and inventory, keep CPR/BCLS certification current, communicate effectively in written and spoken forms, and respond to patient inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid NYS OP License and current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, or Respiratory Therapy Technician.
- At least 2 years of experience in polysomnography or a related field.
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization.
