Certified Athletic Trainer – Full Time - NYP-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital – Days

As a Certified Athletic Trainer, you will assist the physician in providing quality care to patients by accurately determining and communicating the patient’s current and previous medical condition, utilizing triage skills, taking patient histories, performing initial evaluations, providing instruction on exercise prescriptions and general patient education while helping to maintain patient flow.
Responsibilities- Fitting the patient with splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other durable medical equipment as directed, and educating the patient on its use.
- Preparing patients for injections performed by the attending physician, including cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing materials.
- Removal of sutures or staples and providing dressing changes to post‑surgical patients as directed.
- Counseling patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes.
- Performing administrative/clerical responsibilities appropriate to surgical positioning.
- Reviewing pre‑operative instructions, explaining the surgical process, formulating, coordinating, and updating patient care plans from pre‑operative to post‑operative, and collecting clearance data.
- Assisting with patient positioning, retraction, suction, wound closure, and sterile prep and draping as directed by the physician.
- Reviewing post‑operative discharge instructions with patients including wound care and pain management.
- Setting up examination rooms at the start of each day and cleaning between patient visits and at day’s end.
- Performing administrative aspects of patient care such as scheduling, attendance records, charges, insurance requirements, and ensuring documentation complies with department policy and that DME supplies are stocked.
- Master’s degree preferred in Athletic Training from an accredited institution.
- Prior experience working in orthopedic practice preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training.
- NATA certification (entry‑level graduates considered).
- NYS ATC License and NATABOC certification.
- Knowledge of Physical Therapy practices.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Active membership in good standing with the National Athletic Training Association (NATA).
- Current licensure maintained.
This is a full‑time position working 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at NYP/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Salary Range$60,000–$80,000 / Annual
