Position

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiation Therapy Technologist - Per Diem - Mineola & Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of the Director of Radiation Oncology, Technical Manager, and Supervisor, is responsible for administering ionizing radiation as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, maintaining efficiency for the daily operations of the department, and functioning as an instructor of students.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides support for the Radiation Oncology Department in administering external beam radiation under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, following the guidelines of NYS DOH. Follows treatment plans directed by the physician and maintains documentation of treatment and set‑up techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Under supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, performs tumor localization using fluoroscopy simulation and documents isocenter tattoo when applicable.
  • Performs simulation following the physician’s instructions on simulation techniques.
  • Attends staff meetings to comply with policy and procedure on billing, assists physics staff according to departmental policy, reports any inconsistencies to the supervisor, and ensures patient set‑up by taking weekly port film.
  • Enters and interprets patient data into the VARIS system, runs reports for patient treatment field set‑up to verify parameters, uses the treatment program in VARIS to ensure proper treatment, and runs daily reports to check billing.
  • Reports any change or reaction in patient to nurse and physician, maintains the schedule book for patient appointments and the schedule program in VARIS, and ensures all written appointments are recorded in Network accurately and checked daily. Checks the inpatient list daily and notifies registrars of patient status (inpatient/outpatient).
  • Maintains standards of quality for all procedures, performs daily QA on treatment machines, and notifies the supervisor and physics staff if there is a malfunction of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma graduate of an AMA‑approved school of radiation therapy, a New York State license in radiation therapy or a temporary permit to practice, and ARRT certification. Strong written and oral communication, problem‑solving, and customer‑service skills, basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, and thorough knowledge of radiation therapy are required.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years of experience in radiation therapy.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $54.00 – $54.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
