Actinium Pharmaceuticals develops targeted radio therapies to improve patient outcomes. Our lead candidate, ATNM-400, is a first-in‑class Actinium‑225 (Ac‑225) therapy for prostate cancer and lung cancer, showing superior preclinical efficacy and synergy with existing treatments. Actimab‑A, targeting CD33 for AML and other myeloid malignancies, has demonstrated high remission rates in patients and is advancing to pivotal clinical trials, including combination studies with Venetoclax, ASTX‑727, and now PD‑1 inhibitors (KEYTRUDA, OPDIVO) for solid tumors.
Additional clinical programs include Iomab‑ACT and Iomab‑B for transplant conditioning. Actinium also pursues preclinical solid tumor programs and holds ~240 patents, including for Ac‑225 production. Building on our expertise and leadership in radiopharmaceuticals, Actinium is rapidly accelerating our investigational research efforts and is looking for talented individuals to join the team.
Actinium is seeking an individual to lead the next wave of breakthroughs in targeted radio therapies as our Sr Director, Head of Radiopharmacology. You will direct R&D strategy and execution for our targeted radiotherapy oncology programs, joining an entrepreneurial, science‑driven team developing therapies with the potential to transform patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic and scientific leadership for Actinium’s R&D programs in targeted radio therapies, advancing a robust pipeline in oncology.
- Oversee laboratory and preclinical studies, including radio conjugation, in vitro/in vivo efficacy, biodistribution, imaging and preclinical dosimetry to inform first‑in‑human dose predictions.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Ph.D. scientists and research associates to deliver high‑impact results.
- Shape and execute R&D strategy to maximize the value, impact, and innovation potential of Actinium’s science, pipeline assets, and platform technologies.
- Drive the selection and application of radionuclides and conjugation strategies tailored to therapeutic goals in oncology.
- Partner cross‑functionally with CMC, clinical, and regulatory teams to enable IND filings and support translational data packages to guide early clinical development strategy.
- Expand and protect the company’s intellectual property portfolio while advancing proprietary approaches for novel radiopharmaceutical agents.
- Build and manage collaborations with leading academic labs, CROs, and industry partners to strengthen research and development efforts.
- Ph.D. in radiochemistry, cancer biology, or a related life sciences field.
- 12–15+ years of experience advancing targeted radio therapies for oncology from discovery through IND and clinical development.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing scientific teams.
- Extensive experience in lab operations for radiochemistry (HPLC, TLC, GC, ICP‑MS, gamma spectrometry) and oncology preclinical translational models (in vitro, in vivo xenograft and PDX, ex vivo).
- Track record of scientific innovation, publications, and regulatory filings for oncology drugs.
- Strong scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and a drive for innovation, combined with solid biotech business acumen.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Creative, resourceful problem‑solver who thrives in fast‑paced, results‑driven environments.
Strong experience in experimental design, radio conjugate development, translational research and a history of publications or patents is required, alongside exceptional leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and strong communication skills.
