Family Violence Community Social Worker
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Job Type: Part-Time
Salary: DoE
We are seeking a part-time Social Worker to support individuals primarily from the Jewish community in Brooklyn who have been affected by intimate partner violence. This role includes conducting comprehensive assessments, developing safety plans, providing counseling, connecting clients to essential resources, and assisting with access to financial assistance and services. The ideal candidate brings clinical expertise, cultural sensitivity, and experience working with the Orthodox Jewish community.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct intake assessments in person at the Brooklyn Hub and remotely
- Answer helpline calls, provide crisis support, and develop safety plans
- Assess client needs and obtain required documentation
- Provide case management, including assistance with public benefits, housing applications, and philanthropic resources
- Offer counseling and support services in individual and group settings
- Evaluate eligibility for financial assistance and complete necessary applications
- Make referrals to legal services and other community resources
- Maintain accurate documentation and timely database entries, including Salesforce
- Build and sustain relationships with partner agencies
- Provide culturally informed outreach within the Jewish community
- Offer individual and group psychotherapy as needed
- Participate in community outreach events and educational workshops
- Assist with grant requirements and reports
Collaborate with the Family Violence team and provide coverage as needed - Manage a large caseload and prioritize client needs
- Attend trainings, seminars, task forces, and represent the program externally
- Participate in individual and group supervision
- Supervise MSW interns when appropriate
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Counseling license required: LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC
- Prior experience working with domestic violence survivors preferred
- Extensive experience working with the Orthodox Jewish community required
- Bilingual Yiddish or Hebrew preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment serving clients under considerable stress
- Ability to assess safety risks and create appropriate safety plans
- Ability to provide short‑term psychotherapy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to serving vulnerable populations
- Excellent computer literacy
- The position is co‑located between the main office and the Brooklyn Hub
- Must be able to travel using public transportation to assigned locations
