Direct Support Professional 1:1 (Day Hab)
The primary responsibility is the management of a single volunteer in the Day Program by ensuring implementation and recording of progress of habilitative and clinical service plans. The position also involves performing routine direct care responsibilities in the activity room and supporting other volunteers, as directed by the Site Manager. In the event of the volunteer’s absence, reassignment will be determined by the supervisor.
Assist the volunteer in activities designed to manage maladaptive behaviors and/or clinical needs, promote independence and social maturity. Duties include managing behavioral crisis situations across all areas of the day program and in the community. Proficiency in behavioral management techniques is required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Site Manager with the implementation of all interventions outlined in the volunteer’s day hab plan by executing service activities to enhance independent functioning, including crisis behavior management; self‑care, a.d.l., recreation; community inclusion; and other tasks as directed.
- Maintain the volunteer’s record book(s) by collecting data, writing narrative notes, and documenting observations to support accurate assessments and evaluations of capabilities, deficits, priority needs, day hab plan, and service activities.
- Report changes in volunteer behavior and function to the Site Manager, PC (as needed), and appropriate clinical department, ensuring safety and oversight.
- Attend scheduled meetings with the Site Manager to provide and gather information regarding volunteer status, and discuss modifications to the clinical plan.
- Develop and improve job‑related skills by attending all scheduled in‑service training/meetings on topics related to the MR/DD population.
- Report changes in volunteer physical condition, including illness or injury, to the day program’s health office.
- Perform additional responsibilities requested by the supervisor, including driving and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and COMPASS.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Six months experience supporting people with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Proficiency in verbal, written, and reading skills.
- Expected to complete advanced training upon supervisor’s request (e.g., CPR/Clinical Training); AMAP and SCIP‑R required.
- Qualified NYS driver’s license required.
- Personal outcome measures training required prior to evaluations and assessments.
