The Senior Physician Assistant will provide advanced, team-based care to patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures. The role includes patient evaluation, procedural preparation, post-procedural monitoring, and ongoing clinical decision-making. This provider collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes and continuity of care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and related interventional procedures.
Responsibilities- Conduct pre-procedure evaluations, including history and physical examinations, risk assessments, and informed consent.
- Participate directly in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology cases by supporting procedural flow and clinical documentation.
- Write orders, progress notes, and discharge summaries; coordinate post-procedure instructions and follow-up care.
- Serve as the primary clinical provider for monitoring and managing patients post-intervention in step-down or recovery areas.
- Triage and evaluate other cardiology patients across inpatient units as needed.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, nurses, and technicians to coordinate seamless patient care.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge plans.
- Support research, quality improvement, and clinical performance initiatives related to cardiology and interventional services.
- Contribute to protocol development and implementation for streamlined and evidence-based patient care pathways.
SCHEDULE: 6:30 AM-7 PM. Days vary.
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Current NYS Physician Assistant License and Registration.
- NCCPA Board Certification required.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of PA experience in acute cardiology, interventional, cath lab, or cardiac step-down/ICU setting strongly preferred.
- Provides coverage to Weiler campus as needed.
