* The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
*** Responsibilities:
** PNP/FNP or PAFull Time The Pediatric Allergy and Immunology APP has overall responsibility to provide oversight and medical management for patients who are undergoing evaluation for treatment with allergic and immunologic diseases in the outpatient setting, provide independent medical provider oversight of food and drug challenges, oral immunotherapy, allergen immunotherapy, and participate in the education of students, residents and fellows in accordance with the mission of the University of Rochester School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics.
** Duties include, but are not limited to:***(80%) Patient Care/coordination
** The candidate will provide direct care to patients with asthma, food allergy [IgE and non IgE mediated], allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, insect sting allergy, urticaria, angioedema, and anaphylaxis in outpatient settings.
* Orders and supervises allergy testing as appropriate including skin testing, pulmonary function testing and oral food/medication challenges.
* The candidate will provide, after training period, independent oversight of food challenges, drug challenges, oral immunotherapy, and allergen immunotherapy.
* Maintain communication with patient/family, referring and team members and contact patient/family or designates team member to discuss recommendations.
* Inform referring provider, PCP, and or patient/family of incidental findings and confirms a plan of evaluation/follow up has been developed. Consults other disciplines as needed such as pulmonology, gastroenterology, nutrition, social work.
* Education with patient and family throughout process including information about disease process/testing/testing results/procedure and follow up care
* Works with all team members in a collaborative fashion.*(20%) Education, Quality and Patient Satisfaction
** The candidate may also participate in the teaching of students, residents and fellows assigned to her/his clinic and service rotations.
* Develop education on new procedures or protocols to pediatric allergy immunology team and collaborating teams
* Identify areas in need of further education and arrange in-services.
* Facilitate the development of education and policy and procedure for the program incorporating new and changing procedures.
* Develop, present or support educational outreach programs to referring providers/officers and assist with referrals (if needed).
* Assist with updating educational materials (in print and online)
* Monitor patient satisfaction and initiate action as required.
* Participates in Quality and Performance Improvement Initiatives related to Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
* Participate in monthly leadership meetings with Pediatric Allergy and Immunology leadership team Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
