What We Are Looking ForJob Title:
Hospice Aide Specialist (Nights) – Kaplan Family Hospice Residence (KFHR)
Schedule:
Full‑time position consisting of three (3) 12.5‑hour shifts per week, with an every‑other‑weekend rotation required.
Shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
About This RoleAs a Hospice Aide Specialist, you’ll make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families. This role provides direct, hands‑on care in alignment with the patient’s plan of care while supporting their comfort, dignity, and well‑being. You’ll work closely with our nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team to ensure each patient receives exceptional, personalized support.
What You’ll Do- Assist patients with daily personal care needs including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Monitor and report patient observations and changes in condition to the RN.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
- Follow proper infection‑control and safety procedures.
- Offer companionship through conversation, activities, and emotional support.
- Provide simple nursing support, vital sign checks, and emergency assistance as needed.
- Support caregivers by offering respite and responding promptly to patient/family needs.
- Work collaboratively as part of the hospice interdisciplinary care team.
Skills and Abilities
- Valid NYS Home Health Aide (HHA) certification
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in a hospital or nursing home setting.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
- Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Has empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.
- Understands philosophy of hospice care and needs of the terminally ill.
- Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
- Possesses good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
- Possesses excellent organizational skills.
