ResponsibilitiesProvide support to the facility by performing specific business office functions. Functions include, but are not limited to:
Medical Records, Credentialing, Admissions/Intake, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, Insurance Verification, Transaction, Posting, Clinical Logs and other duties as assigned.
- Schedule surgeries in the computer system and handle calls from physician offices regarding patient scheduling.
- Answer phone in a pleasant manner, take messages, and transfer calls to other departments when necessary.
- Perform pre-registration and obtain authorization from the physician’s office prior to surgery.
- Maintain log for cancelled appointments.
- Perform clerical duties: photocopying forms, reporting, faxing and retrieving faxes as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly surgery scheduling area.
- Verify scheduled cases as soon as possible.
- Contact patients with a financial responsibility immediately and inform them of payment policies, offering payment options if necessary.
- Document insurance verification and patient calls clearly in the patient’s account.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree or equivalent preferred. - Minimum three years of experience in health care and at least one year of experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist and registration responsibilities; ability to handle stress.
- Flexible with hours and willing to work whichever shift is covered.
USD $16.00/hr – USD $22.00/hr.
