Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiac & Vascular Sonographer, Per Diem – Lake Success.

In this role, the successful candidate will perform all cardiac ultrasound studies—including echocardiograms, treadmill stress echocardiograms, pharmacological stress echocardiograms, echocardiograms with ultrasound‑enhancing agents, and agitated saline studies—as well as all vascular ultrasound studies—including carotid duplex, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex studies, abdominal aortic studies, renal artery duplex studies, iliocaval duplex studies, mesenteric duplex studies, plethysmography, and ankle‑brachial index studies.

All studies must adhere to NYU protocols as well as IAC and ACR standards.

• Demonstrates knowledge of NYU policies and protocols and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
• Performs all cardiac and vascular ultrasound studies as described.
• Provides patient comfort, identifies self to patient, verifies patient identity, explains procedures clearly, and ensures privacy.
• Creates preliminary reports, documents scans, and records patient data per departmental procedures.
• Uses highly technical equipment to perform studies and employs good judgment in determining adequacy.
• Alerts medical staff of abnormalities requiring immediate attention.
• Compares present studies with previous ones to monitor status changes.
• Assists with maintaining accreditation compliance and documentation.
• Lifts, pushes, or moves patients and equipment over 150 pounds as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Associate’s degree in a related field plus completion of an accredited cardiac and vascular ultrasound program or equivalent education and experience.
• Registered as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) and registered vascular technologist (RVT) or equivalent: registered cardiac sonographer (RCS) and registered vascular sonographer (RVS). One credential may be obtained within one year of hire.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Maintains active registry status.

Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer‑Ct, Reg Vascular Technologist‑Cert, Cardiovascular Credentialing International‑CCI, American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Salary Range: $67.00 – $67.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
