*** Responsibilities:
** GENERAL SUMMARY Supervises sonographers and clerical staff in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Ultrasound. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of these locations with responsibility for staff, equipment, budgets, and quality of patient care. Develops, applies, and enforces laboratory policies.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*** Responsible for the Ultrasound staff, including full technical and professional performance accountability.
* Creates, develops, and enforces departmental personnel policies.
* Conducts performance evaluations, hires, applies corrective discipline including termination and engages in performance improvement plans.
* Manages the daily patient schedule and assigns sonographers accordingly across all sites.
* Accountable for the efficient operation of all sites.
* Continuously monitors the throughput of patients and utilizes staff accordingly with regard to special procedures and application of each sonographer's unique skills and availability.
* Anticipates and plans for efficiently utilizing the scanning rooms and/or equipment.
* Monitors sonographers’ compliance with scanning report requirements.
* Makes assessments for accuracy, including generation and distribution.
* Performs quality assessment checks of sonographers’ and physicians’ report handling and documentation. Implements resolutions for non-compliance.
* Prepares and monitors annual operating and capital equipment budgets in conjunction with OB/GYN senior leadership.
* Approves purchases and oversees expenses of the practice, writes justification for budget review for unanticipated expenses and monthly budget variances.
* Provides input on the evaluation of scanning equipment and makes recommendations for purchase and/or future use.
* Maintains and assesses the working condition of equipment currently in use.
* Advises individual maintenance agreement holders of the need for preventative maintenance checks and/or service requirements.
* Enforces quality control checks of equipment and resolves equipment failures.
* Trains and provides continual follow-up and monitoring of office staff and sonographers’ personal development, including participation in specially assigned, unique tasks essential to the academic growth of the offices and laboratory sites.
* Oversees student interns and OB/GYN residents.
* Directs rotations emphasizing learning basic scanning skills, image interpretation, and patient care in the clinical setting.
* Directs orientation of new techniques and research projects.
* Selects, provides, and reviews current research materials with staff as a basis for ongoing education.
* Serves as liaison between the Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty group, OB/GYN senior leadership, ambulatory administration, OB/GYN Quality Council, professional sonographer councils (ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers & AIUM – American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine), and staff…
