Job Summary:
The Reg Vascular Ultrasound Technologist primarily specializes in the utilization of cardiovascular ultrasound equipment as necessary, and performs echocardiography and arterial vascular examinations under the direction of a cardiologist.
Responsibilities:- Conducts a basic history and physical prior to the patient's non-invasive evaluation, to ensure there is a proper indication to perform any examination
- Enters patient information into the demographic screen on each ultrasound machine and into the reporting software. Accurately bills examinations and completes charge sheets appropriately
- Performs non-invasive diagnostic vascular examinations in an out-patient setting, including peripheral arterial, peripheral venous, dialysis access, cerebrovascular, intracranial cerebrovascular, abdominal arterial, and abdominal venous evaluations
- Performs all examinations in accordance with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) standards and department protocols.
- Performs same-day and emergent add-ons as required, compares evaluation to previous evaluations as necessary, interprets the findings of each exam and is able to accurately report the findings in a preliminary report format in a timely manner upon completion of the study, ensures that all referring providers are notified with findings for all same day emergent add-ons
- Interprets evaluations and provides a preliminary report following completion of the evaluation, and compares the evaluation to previous evaluations as necessary.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, interpreting physicians and referring providers; explains testing procedures to patient, and ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician.
- Performs related duties as required
Experience:
Two years' technical experience in vascular technology required and four to five years of experience in the field preferred.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of cardiovascular technology with a degree or certification in an allied health field.
Licenses /
Certifications:
Certified in Vascular Technology on an approved course of study. Must be a RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist.
