Job Summary
DCWP is hiring for the position of Enforcement Support Associate on a provisional basis or through the 55(a) program. Permanent civil service or comparable title employees (under 6.1.9) are also eligible to apply. This position may be eligible for remote work up to two days per week under the Flexible Work Pilot Program.
About DCWP & OLPSThe NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is the city’s leading municipal enforcement agency delivering economic justice. The Office of Labor Policy & Standards (OLPS) enforces city worker protection laws, including the Protected Time Off Law, Fair Workweek scheduling laws, Delivery Worker Laws, and the Freelance Isn’t Free Act (FIFA). OLPS seeks a detail‑oriented Enforcement Support Associate to support its enforcement work.
Responsibilities- Gathering information about worker complaints from workers and advocates by phone and email;
- Understanding the key rights OLPS enforces;
- Identifying the correct responses to workers’ and employers’ questions in DCWP’s Intake Manual, Frequently Asked Questions documents, and other informational materials;
- Inputting data accurately into spreadsheets and databases for worker surveys and intake recordkeeping;
- Using software to administer worker surveys;
- Identifying and correcting data errors;
- Handling other assignments related to data entry;
- Printing and mailing documents;
- Handling and distributing mail;
- Tracking and ordering office supplies;
- Assisting attorneys, investigators, and court navigators with tasks related to their cases;
- Assisting with compiling and redacting documents; and
- Assisting with employee onboarding tasks, such as preparing work spaces.
- A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of full‑time, satisfactory experience conducting investigations or inspections for a consumer or worker protection agency; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to the first option above. College education may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of 30 semester credits per year of required experience. All candidates must have a four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in the State of New York at the time of appointment. The license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Preferred Skills- Interest or experience in labor standards investigations or low‑wage worker issues;
- Enjoys helping others;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel;
- Detail‑oriented;
- Fluency in a language other than English, especially Spanish, French, Bengali, or Mandarin Chinese.

Residency RequirementNew York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Discuss the residency requirement with the agency representative during the interview.
