Duties Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with tracking completion of all NYSIF and OER mandatory trainings in all required systems including Course Mill, SLMS, Training Tracker, and the Statewide Ethics Tracking System.
  • Assist with preparing monthly ethics reports to the Ethics commission.
  • Assist with coordinating ethics training for appropriate staff.
  • Assist with providing department managers with SLMS training compliance reports.
  • Assist with the delivery of in-person and virtual sessions of management training courses and additional trainings as needed.
Qualifications

For Appointment to Training Specialist 1:

  • Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
  • One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include, but aren’t limited to:
    Administrative Specialist 1, Claims Services Representative 1, Human Resources Specialist 1; OR
  • Six years of experience developing and presenting training programs to improve the on-the-job knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees to enable them to carry out the mission.

For Appointment to Training Specialist Trainee 1:

  • Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
  • One year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include, but aren’t limited to:
    Contract Management Specialist Trainee 1, Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1, Program Aide; OR
  • Four years of experience developing and presenting training programs to improve the on-the-job knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees to enable them to carry out the mission.


* An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong public speaking, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
