Overview

The mission of the Training Bureau is to transform uniformed and civilian members of the Police Department into law enforcement professionals equipped with the necessary academic and tactical knowledge to protect life, rights, property, and dignity of all residents of the City of New York. The Training Bureau believes that a well-trained police professional will have a favorable impact on the diverse communities they serve, will be respected by their peers, and will be emulated by other law enforcement agencies.

Duties
  • Managing the library collection of books, periodicals and reference materials
  • Assisting patrons of the library with general inquiries and research requests
  • Functioning as Record Manager as it pertains to record retrieval, document storage and record management
  • Managing the use of conference rooms and other applicable space within the library

WORK LOCATION:

th Avenue, College Point, New York

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, Day tours

ASSOCIATE PUBLIC RECORDS OFFICER - 60217

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science or a related area, plus two years of full-time experience in archival or library science, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity of incumbents performing at a professional level; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. However, all candidates must have a master’s degree from an accredited college and the one year of supervisory experience as described above.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience in library science and records management, especially in regard to adherence to retention schedules and retrieval
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
