General Engineer (Safety)

Agency:
Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Role open to U.S. citizens and federal employees. Position serves as liaison between FTA Headquarters and Regional Office (TRO) performing safety oversight and compliance activities.

• Serve as liaison between Regional Offices and TSO Headquarters as part of Safety Management Process, advising on safety issue identification, review, and escalation.
• Provide communication and liaison support between Regional Offices and TSO.
• Support recipients and the region in safety grant applications, project implementation, inspection, oversight and coordination activities.
• Coordinate stakeholders to provide information for safety compliance during technical compliance reviews and related safety activities.
• Travel 25-30% for the position.

• Must be U.S. Citizen and eligible for consideration.
• Must meet specialized experience to qualify for series.
• Submit required documents by closing date.
• Meet education requirement for GS series; provide transcripts; meet either education or specialized experience requirements.

To qualify for GS-13, minimum one year of experience equal to GS-12, including analytical, drafting, and stakeholder communication. To qualify for GS-14, minimum one year of experience equal to GS-13, with managing and reporting analytical methods, leading work, and mentorship.
