We are seeking a Director to advance organizational goals through high-impact advocacy, policy development, and cross-functional strategic projects. This role combines traditional government relations work, legislative monitoring, relationship building, and lobbying with strategic initiative management, persuasive communications, and grassroots or donor mobilization. The Director will serve as the primary liaison to city, state, and federal officials while leading multi-stakeholder efforts to secure public resources, shape public policy, and expand the organization’s impact.

• Build and manage relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and policy stakeholders
• Lead advocacy campaigns that advance legislative, budgetary, and policy priorities
• Develop policy positions, briefing materials, and written communications for internal and external audiences
• Monitor legislation, budget processes, and regulatory developments relevant to the organization’s mission
• Coordinate cross-functional strategic initiatives with internal departments and external partners
• Lead multi-stakeholder coalitions and campaigns to secure funding and policy support
• Draft speeches, talking points, digital content, op-eds, and public communications
• Mobilize grassroots supporters, partner organizations, and donors around advocacy efforts
• Use data, metrics, and performance indicators to evaluate progress and inform strategy
• Represent the organization at government meetings, hearings, community forums, and events
• Work closely with executive leadership to align advocacy efforts with long-term organizational goals
• Perform additional responsibilities as required

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, or a related field required;
  Master’s degree or JD preferred
• Minimum 7 years of experience in government relations, public policy advocacy, or strategic initiatives, including direct lobbying or experience working for elected officials
• Established relationships within New York City and New York State government
• Familiarity with human services funding streams and compliance requirements
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, negotiating, and strategic planning abilities
• Media fluency and comfort engaging with the press when needed
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex, high-stakes projects
• Bilingual proficiency in Hebrew, Russian, Chinese, or Spanish is a plus
