POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the VP of Finance of Behavioral Health & Education, the Controller directs all financial affairs of the organization using generally accepted accounting principles and uniform guidance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to budget and reimbursement, payroll, business office, billing management, reimbursement, credit and collections, timely and accurate reporting and other financial matters.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists VP of Finance of Behavioral Health in the managing of the accounting functions of the organization.
  • Assists VP of Finance in the preparation of budgets, budget modifications and all required financial reports.
  • Ensures that all financial reporting aspects of the various Federal/State/City grants for the organization including filing of required cost reports and submission of claims/vouchers.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly Financial Statements and yearly closing.
  • Responsible for the preparation of schedules and worksheets for cost reports required by funding agencies such as the CFR.
  • Maximizes reimbursement on all grants by ensuring appropriate cost allocation and by adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Ensure that all grant-related costs are appropriately stated in the General Ledger while maintaining the records in accordance with GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
  • Conducts account reconciliations and analysis on a regular scheduled basis.
  • Assists Senior Management on all grant-related financial requests and on special projects.
  • Ensure all billing is done on a timely basis and all purchases are posted accurately.
  • Oversees external audits for assigned entities.
  • Prepare audit schedules and work with external auditors.
  • Manage cash-flow to meet current liability obligations.
  • Produce ad hoc analysis reports and projects as requested by management.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Supervises Accounting and Accounts Payable Staff and provides training and assistance as required.
  • Monitors organization’s fiscal issues and investments and make recommendations to Senior Management as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or business
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Non
    - Profit experience a plus.
  • Proficiency on GAAP and Uniform Guidance cost principles, audit preparation and financial reporting.
  • CPA is a plus, but not required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong leadership and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with Fund-Ez and Sage Fixed Asset is a plus.
