Head of Strategic Finance & FP&A

Overview

Our client, a healthcare AI startup, is seeking a Head of Strategic Finance & FP&A. They are looking for a highly analytical finance leader with 6–7+ years of experience to serve as the strategic backbone of the finance function. This role is ideal for someone with early training in a high-intensity environment (investment banking, private equity, or consulting) who has also built and scaled FP&A within a fast-growing tech startup.

This individual will own the operating model, drive data-informed strategic decisions, and help the company scale responsibly. The right candidate is comfortable stepping into ambiguity, building systems from scratch, and operating with high ownership and minimal direction.

• Own and evolve the company s operating model, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario planning
• Lead the annual budgeting process across all departments
• Develop and manage a company-wide KPI and performance framework
• Prepare board materials, manage investor reporting, and support lender relationships
• Analyze unit economics and build financial frameworks for new market expansion
• Partner closely with leadership to inform strategic growth decisions

• 6+ years of combined experience in high-intensity finance (banking/PE/consulting) and in-house startup FP&A/strategic finance
• At least 2+ years in investment banking, private equity, or diligence-focused consulting
• 3+ years in a strategic finance or FP&A role at a high-growth tech startup (Series B+ preferred)
• Experience building three-statement financial models from scratch
• Direct ownership of forecasting, operating models, and scenario planning
• Experience presenting financial analysis to boards and investors
• Comfort operating in fast-moving, unstructured environments
• Health tech experience is a plus
