Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting, Senior Accountant
Our client, a leading and well-established investment firm based in New York City, is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager with 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience. This is a high‑visibility role within the finance organization, offering direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful responsibility across financial reporting, fund operations, and internal controls.
This position is ideal for a strong public accounting professional with financial services exposure who is looking to step into a leadership‑oriented role within a sophisticated and fast‑paced investment platform.
Key Responsibilities- Lead core components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across fund and management company entities
- Review complex journal entries, accruals, consolidations, and account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements
- Oversee fund-level accounting activities including capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations, and investor allocations
- Coordinate with third‑party fund administrators to review NAV packages and ensure accuracy of reporting
- Partner with Investor Relations and FP&A teams to support investor reporting and performance analysis
- Manage management company accounting, including expense allocations and intercompany transactions
- Support cash management, liquidity forecasting, and treasury‑related activities
- Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks and accounting policies
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements
- Serve as a key liaison during the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with regulatory and compliance reporting requirements
- Mentor and develop junior accounting professionals within the team
- 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting experience required; financial services or fund exposure strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and partnership accounting concepts
- Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or fund reporting systems
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
