Director of Accounting - Construction

Location:

New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan – IN OFFICE ONLY)

Pay Rate: $150,000–$180,000 yr+ Bonus

Join a nationally respected construction management firm with a 70+ year history delivering projects in commercial, healthcare, academic, life sciences, and historic restoration. As Controller, you’ll lead GL accuracy, cash flow, month‑end close, reporting, and mentor project accountants. You’ll collaborate across finance, project teams, and operations, acting as both a tactical and strategic partner to senior leadership.

• Lead month‑end close and ensure reliable financials
• Prepare statements and support external audits
• Supervise and mentor 6+ project accountants
• Partner with accounting, payroll, HR, and project teams to resolve issues
• Improve processes, reporting, and analytics
• Use ERP tools (Sage 300 CRE now; evaluating Vista/CMIC) for forecasting and clarity
• 401(k) with match + ESOP
• Onsite only, flexible 7–9AM start time

• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance
• Construction accounting experience
• Public Audit Experience (mid sector or small preferred)
• Strong GL, financial reporting, and month-end close skills
• Analytics, job costing, and schedule exposure
