Payroll & Trust Accountant

A midsized Law Firm in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join its finance team. This role will be responsible for managing payroll operations, overseeing attorney trust accounts, and supporting partner compensation while assisting with general accounting functions.

• Process full-cycle payroll for firm employees and maintain accurate payroll records, tax compliance, and benefit deductions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.
• Manage attorney trust and escrow accounts, ensuring proper documentation, regulatory compliance, and accurate reconciliations.
• Support the calculation and processing of partner draws and related financial transactions.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close and general ledger maintenance.
• Partner with finance leadership to maintain accurate financial reporting.

• 3–5 years of payroll or accounting experience.
• Experience managing trust or escrow accounts, preferably within a law firm.
• Paylocity experience is highly preferred.
• Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of general ledger concepts.
• High attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

$125,000 – $135,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
