Compensation
$100K- $125K DOE + Generous benefit plan, PTO, holidays and Perks
Leading apparel wholesaler in NYC seeks an Assistant Controller to oversee the financial operations of four related entities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all accounting functions. This role manages daily accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury management, internal controls, and compliance activities.
Responsibilities Treasury & Cash Management- Maintain positive daily cash flow across all bank accounts
- Monitor monthly customs duty charges and ensure sufficient ACH funding
- Review factor reporting daily and provide updates to CFO
- Oversee all company procedures and financial controls regarding the reporting of A/R, A/P, and payroll
- Reconcile Factor statements and multiple bank accounts monthly
- Oversee invoice processing in Kwik Tag/Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- Ensure timely vendor payments and schedule recurring payments
- Manage and prepare monthly/quarterly royalty payments and reporting for licensed brands
- Prepare commercial rent schedules
- Provide training and support to the accounting team on A/P systems
- Supervise and manage workflow distribution
- Review and validate customer chargebacks and deductions
- Approve credit memos and assist in disputing invalid claims
- Monitor follow-up on disputed claims and enforce escalation procedures
- Collaborate with sales and senior management to resolve customer issues
- Prepare month‑end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and report generation
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of monthly financial statements
- Assist in the preparation of reports for the Account's annual review statements
- Review payroll reports for accuracy
- Maintain 401(k) records, payments, loans, and employer match (Voya)
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required, CPA track is a plus
- Minimum 4‑5+ years’ accounting experience in manufacturing setting
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Adept with ERP/Accounting software programs and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Proficiency with MS Great Plains accounting software is a plus
