Supervising Senior Property Accountant | Real Estate Management Firm | Rapidly Growing
A prominent and rapidly growing Manhattan based real estate management firm specializing in Luxury Condo and Co‑op properties is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage a small team and oversee all aspects of accounting, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and capex for a portfolio of condominium properties in the New York metropolitan area.
Responsibilities- Responsible for functions of accounting & budgetary process for a portfolio of luxury and high‑end Manhattan co‑op and condominiums properties.
- Responsible for all aspects of financial and property reporting, which includes maintaining the property general ledger and subsidiary general ledgers, preparing and posting journal entries, preparing and analyzing monthly accrual basis financial statements in conformity with accounting standards.
- Prepare annual operating budget and revise forecasts using Excel worksheets and cash flow modeling programs.
- Review all accounts payable invoices for proper classification in the general ledger. Review accounts receivable to determine developing tenant problems, propriety of cash posting, and liquidity of property.
- Monitor compliance with loan covenants and prepare compliance certificates.
- Assist with formalizing of and documentation of internal controls.
- Reconcile intercompany balances.
- Reconcile job cost reports to the general ledger.
- Supervise staff and direct all aspects of daily operations.
- Assist Managing Director and Property Managers with capital budgets.
- Implement policies and procedures within department as needed.
- 4‑year degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in real estate accounting.
- Proficiency in Yardi or similar software required.
- Experience communicating with board members.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted environment.
- Be able to multi‑task and be a team player.
Salary (Commensurate with experience level): $110,000 – 120,000 plus bonus, comprehensive health benefits and other valuable perks.
