Steven Douglas is partnering on a search for a highly experienced Director of Tax to lead complex tax compliance and enhance the sophistication of a growing tax practice.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical tax knowledge, strong leadership capability, and a passion for building scalable, best‑in‑class processes. Reporting directly to the Managing Director this role will help shape the long‑term vision and operational strategy of the tax organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, review, and manage complex federal, state, and multi‑state tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, S corporations, corporations, and charitable entities.
  • Oversee all phases of the compliance lifecycle, including data intake, workpaper development, tax basis analysis, and final return review to ensure accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Conduct advanced tax research, interpret regulatory guidance, and provide technical resolutions to complex tax issues.
  • Partner with internal planning, investment, and finance teams to align tax compliance with broader strategic and financial goals.
  • Implement technology‑driven improvements and workflow enhancements to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the tax function.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required (JD/LLM or advanced tax degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in individual, fiduciary, and business‑entity tax compliance, including work with complex structures.
  • Technical expertise in equity compensation (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs), QSBS, and tax considerations surrounding liquidity events and corporate transactions.
  • Strong experience with multi‑state filings, foreign information reporting, and complex Schedule K‑1 analyses.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with proficiency in Ultra Tax, CCH Axcess, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
