About the CompanyEstablished in 2025 and backed by top Investors with recent Series A funding and backed by ex-founders and elite talent from Character AI, Scale, Palantir, and Citadel, our client has established a firm vision to build the first AI-native healthcare provider service product company aims to start with home health as the optimal wedge market and using AI to eliminate the administrative overhead that has constrained the industry for decades.
This company automates the entirety of back-office operations in order to expand access that traditional providers must reject, achieve contribution margins that approach software-like levels, and use superior unit economics to consolidate fragmented markets region-by-region.
Our client is not simply building software for home health agencies- they are the home health platform itself, powered by AI.
About the roleThe Controller will work directly with executive leadership and be fully responsible for all day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the organizations. These responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Leading and optimizing daily accounting operations, month-end close processes, and ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Conduct a complete audit of the current ERP and accounting systems setup, identify opportunities, and ensure the GL can support integration.
- Design, implement, and upgrade internal controls infrastructure required for a rapidly scaling company with an aggressive M&A strategy
- Oversee revenue recognition and reserves, getting up to speed on healthcare-specific nuances.
- Oversee consolidated financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually) under US GAAP
- Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets
- Drive financial planning, reporting benchmarks, and performance metrics
- Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and ensure compliance standards
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing, A+ accounting team- including the immediate hire of a direct report.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA required (can be inactive)
- 7-15+ years of progressive experience in a corporate accounting function, with a mix of public accounting and in-house corporate experience at a high‑growth company
- 3+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or regional), ideally reaching managerial level.
- 3+ years as a Controller or Asst. Controller in a fast‑paced venture funded environment (company with $50M+ in revenue ideally)
- Must have experience building and implementing internal controls from scratch.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance.
- Experience managing or preparing for external audit, with public accounting audit background, a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with post‑Quickbooks GL systems (i.e Sage)- a must
- Experience with new system/ERP implementations, highly preferred
- Understanding of healthcare revenue cycle accounting, highly preferred
- Experience with a company that has gone through M&A activity- ideal
- Must be willing to work in a hybrid model (2-3 days in office in NYC)
