Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid 2-3 days NYC
Salary: $,000 plus bonus
We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our clients Finance team. Reporting to the U.S. Controller, this role is critical to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records while delivering high-quality reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Ledger Oversight- Lead the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation, and payroll allocations.
- Perform and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, and liabilities.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for leadership review.
- Research and resolve complex or non-routine accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition, lease accounting) and prepare technical accounting memos.
- Serve as a primary liaison for external auditors, preparing audit work papers and supporting documentation for annual audits.
- Maintain and evaluate internal controls over financial reporting (including SOX compliance), recommending improvements to strengthen processes.
- Perform detailed variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast and prior periods) and provide clear insights to leadership.
- Support the annual operating budget and ongoing forecasts in partnership with Finance leadership.
- Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging automation and technology where possible.
- Act as a key financial point of contact for cross-functional teams including Sales and Operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- CPA or CMA designation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets.
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Experience with Workday ERP.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
