Vice President – Private Credit Origination (Non-Sponsor)

A leading private credit investment platform with a strong track record in asset-backed and structured credit solutions is looking to hire a Vice President to focus on originating and executing transactions with non-sponsor backed businesses.

The firm manages multi-billion-dollar capital across institutional vehicles and is known for providing creative, flexible capital to middle market companies across North America. This role sits within the investment team and will have direct exposure to senior leadership, investment committee, and portfolio company executives.

This is a front-office origination role focused on sourcing and structuring proprietary transactions directly with founder-owned and privately held businesses.

The successful candidate will:

• Originate new investment opportunities from non-sponsor backed companies
• Build direct relationships with founders, management teams, intermediaries and advisors
• Develop thematic sourcing strategies across targeted industries
• Lead early-stage underwriting and structure discussions
• Present investment opportunities to senior investment professionals and Investment Committee
• Support execution alongside internal underwriting, legal and portfolio management teams
• Represent the firm at conferences, industry events and within relevant networks

The focus is on asset-based lending, specialty finance, and structured credit opportunities. Transactions typically range from lower to upper middle market.

The firm is seeking an experienced originator with a strong network and proven ability to source proprietary deal flow.

Ideal background:

• 6–10+ years of experience within private credit, direct lending, specialty finance, commercial finance or structured credit
• Demonstrated track record of originating transactions with non-sponsor backed businesses
• Strong understanding of asset-based lending, collateral underwriting and downside protection
• Existing relationships with founders, independent sponsors, advisors and lower middle market intermediaries
• Commercial mindset with the ability to independently drive conversations and convert opportunities
• Strong credit judgement and ability to assess complex capital structures
• Experience working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment is highly valued.
