Founding Senior Controller

Our client is building a next-generation fund administration platform designed to deliver a high-touch, high-tech experience to asset managers and their investors. As they prepare for rapid growth, they are hiring a Founding Senior Controller to architect and lead the accounting foundation of the business.

This is a rare opportunity to build an institutional-grade fund accounting platform from the ground up.

• Build and scale the fund administration infrastructure, systems, and workflows
• Own the full accounting lifecycle: onboarding, capital calls, distributions, allocations & waterfalls, audit and tax coordination
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and GAAP integrity across diverse fund structures
• Lead client onboarding and deliver a best-in-class, high-trust client experience
• Partner with Engineering and Product to translate fund accounting requirements into scalable systems
• Help modernize fund administration through automation, AI, and operational efficiency
• Establish SOC 1 / SOC 2-aligned controls and scalable internal processes

• Build and lead a high-performing fund accounting team
• Define standards, documentation, workflows, and quality controls
• Contribute to go-to-market efforts and help shape the long-term strategy of the firm

• CPA strongly preferred; CFA may be acceptable for the right candidate
• 8–15+ years of fund accounting experience across venture capital, growth equity, and/or private equity
• Prior leadership experience at a leading fund administration firm
• Deep expertise across the full investment lifecycle (fund formation through dissolution)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, LP reporting, allocations/waterfalls, audit, tax, and regulatory requirements
• Experience with complex fund structures (SPVs, master/feeder, GP entities, blocker entities, etc.)
• Track record in building and developing fund accounting teams
• Builder mindset with comfort in ambiguity and early‑stage environments
• Experience as a founding team member within a fund administration platform and/or leveraging AI/ML to drive operational excellence would be a bonus.

Compensation (New York Pay Transparency)

Base salary range: $180,000 – $250,000

Equity participation included.

No bonus structure at this stage (pre–Series A).

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with the role.
