Underwriting Officer, Hull and Liabilities - Ocean Marine

Location: New York

* As an underwriting subject matter expert, assess, design, implement, and/or lead regional underwriting strategies and practices in support of profit and growth objectives.
* Oversee and influence underwriting execution through individual risk and/or portfolio CUREs as well as through the evaluation of underwriter proficiency and underwriting quality.
* Drive the development of key underwriting capabilities and best practices through coaching and trainings while educating underwriters on strategy and guidelines to enhance regional efficiency and effectiveness.
* Monitor trends, emerging issues, and underwriting results for regional book of business and partner with underwriting leadership to take action, as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Eight or more years of commercial underwriting experience with experience in Ocean Marine.
* Expert level knowledge of risk appetite and risk selection, Ocean Marine products, as well as the regulatory environment and local insurance marketplace.
* Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting and financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with risk appetite.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence others.
